CHRISTMAS EVE CRIB SERVICE AT ST GILES’

The stable stood ready, the three wise men had embarked on their long journey, Mary and Joseph were preparing to settle into their luxurious and well-ventilated accommodation, shepherds, still reeling from their visit from the angel, were descending the hillside, and various animals were wondering why their feeding manger was no longer available.  It was the Eve of Christmas, and all was calm and bright…….

St Giles’ was looking magnificent, with the three wise men following the star, Mary and Joseph waiting patiently in the porch, the Christmas tree, decorated by Wishford school children, stood proudly ablaze with lights, and, courtesy of our new heating, the church was warm!  A beautiful Christmas card for us to sign, depicting our church glowing on a wintry night and created by Caroline, was placed near the door.  Over 70 of us sang out joyfully on Christmas Eve, and raised £154 for The Children’s Society.
