On 29th May, after an early start when the village was roused by the Rough Band, people gathered in the village hall for a wonderful fry-up breakfast, before going on to the cathedral - most went by car, but some (fool-)hardy folk walked there! It was a windy morning and our banner- and flag-bearers had their work cut out.

The Nich Ladies danced in front of the cathedral, accompanied by Sophie on the accordion......

.....and again inside the cathedral, where the villagers' rights to gather fallen wood in Grovely were once again renewed, for the 133rd time!

Then it was back to the village for a very tasty lunch in the tea tent. Afterwards, film footage from last year's celebrations was shown, mixed with film and pictures from earlier times. This year's recipient of the Keith Vincent cup was David Boler, another long-standing volunteer and maintainer of our Oak Apple tradition.
