OAK APPLE SERVICE ON THE FIELD

The very robust arched marquee that we used for the first time last year was again kindly left up for us on the day after the fête, Sunday 1st June. The suitably rustic altar was the stump of the beech tree.

It was cooler and breezier than the previous day, but remained dry right through until after the service and refreshments.

The theme was 'Unity Really Is Strength - cohesion and inclusion', - a celebration of the way the village works, plays and cares.

We were a gathering of 25, with Sophie on the organ, and liquid refreshments aftwards, courtesy of the Oak Apple Club. It was a joyful event, with much laughter alongside the genuine gratitude for another successful village event. A total of £82 was collected in aid of the Wishford Almshouses.
